The symposium aims to focus on strength and weaknesses of land management tools when applied to different development situations. This can include land information systems, legal systems, administrative and financial arrangements, public participation etc. Key‐situations that can form the basis for cross‐country discussions and comparisons are e.g:


  • Land management in shrinking cities.
  • Redevelopment of contaminated land
  • Implementation of sustainable strategies in land use planning.
  • Models for urban renewal.


Presentations will be held on 7th and 8th of September.

The event will be organized at Université Paris Est Ecole d’Urbanisme de Paris

The excursion is planned for Saturday, 9th of September and will look into the project “Paris Rive Gauche” www.parisrivegauche.com and District  Masséna : http://www.christiandeportzamparc.com/fr/projects/quartier-massena/

Deadline : title and an abstract of your contribution by 15th May 2017.

The board would appreciate if your collaborators and PhD students will also participate.

The presentations will be published together with those of the Ljubljana Symposium in

2017. The papers will be peer‐reviewed. Accepted symposium papers will be published in book

format. All authors will participate in the peer‐review process reviewing at least two articles. This allows us to continue our book series. The volumes are not only available in printed version but also as open access e‐book (http://www.vdf.ethz.ch/vdf.asp?page=themen/EuropeanFaculty.html).

  • Symposium registration fee for members and non‐members is 140 €. This fee also includes member‐ ship fee for year 2017 for current ordinary members, symposium lunches and refreshments.
  • Symposium registration fee for PhD students is 100 €.
  • Symposium registration fee for Lab'URBA members (ask Sonia Guelton)
  • Cost of conference dinner is 40 € (optional - september, 7th)  and the excursion fee is 30 € (optional - septemebre 9th).

Please note: Speakers who have to withdraw their participation later than one month before the conference will be charged with 80% of the full registration fee.
